Paper Flower Hair Bows

Hey there! I’ve got another craft to show you and I’m really excited about this one. It’s easy, beautiful, useful, and is made using stuff you probably have at home. Their quick to make, too, and my friend and I divvied up a bunch of them in less than an hour. They’re paper flower hair bows! Here is what you’ll need:

Book paper (you can use any type of paper – music paper, book paper, pages from a dictionary, etc. We used an old dictionary)
Cardstock paper
Alligator hair clips
Small plastic gems (we use the type that have one side sticky to use as decorations on cards and things)
Hot glue gun
Scissors
Pen (optional)

This is a great project to do especially if you have an old water damaged book or a dictionary or music paper that you’re not going to use. You can probably find the rest of the supplies at any craft store, such as Hobby Lobby.

First, make a small circle out of the cardstock paper. We kind of forgot to show the circle before we were further down into the steps, so just pay attention to the paper circle and ignore everything else :-)

Next, rip out a sheet of the (book) paper and cut out a flower shape. Don’t try to do a perfect job because it looks a lot better with uneven curves. If you need to draw a flower shape before you cut, go right ahead. That’s what your pen is for. Once the flower shape is cut out it should look something like this:

Now, fold it in half. None of the ends will meet, and that’s perfectly fine; you don’t want the ends to be even together at all.

Fold it again. It should create a quarter of a petal.

Make three more petal quarters, and hot glue them onto the little cardstock circle. It will create a flower.

(I had originally taken a photo for each of the 4 petals being added, but I think you get the point. This is the 3rd petal being added)

Now, add a gem to the center of your flower. It doesn’t have to be a gem – you can use a bead or a dot of that type of colored glue dot whatchamacallit, but try to add something to the center. It’ll really make your flower look like a flower, see?
