Blogversary Pictionary Q+A Answers!

Hey y'all!  Today I'm releasing the long-awaited Pictionary Q+A post in honor of my 3rd blogversary here at Grace Notes!!  I'm super excited about this post and the blogging milestone it represents for me.  I'm also very proud of myself because I managed to get photos for so many of your questions, and trust me, it was HARD! ;)

As you will notice, although I got photos for many of the questions, I did not get photos for them ALL.  The ones with "normal" answers are interspersed throughout.

OK, so here we go!  Thank you to all of you sweet readers that sent questions in!  You're the best! <3

What is your favorite instrument to play?

What is your favorite instrument to listen to?

What is your favorite book?

Other than the Bible... Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis!  Unfortunately I cannot take a photo of my copy right now, because I have lent it to someone. ;)  See a list with many more of my favorites here!

What is your favorite season?

What was one of your favorite things to do as a kid?

Balloon-chasing on Memorial Day weekend!

How about something your mom makes that you could eat forever?

Who is your favorite fictional character?

If you could live in any historical era, which would you choose?

I don't actually have any desire to live in a different era! :P  I suppose if I had to choose, I'd like to see what it was like back in the day when Jesus was on earth.  Technically you can go to Israel and see where everything was located, but you can't picture exactly what it looked like in the day.  Wouldn't it be so cool to see everything as it really was?

What is your favorite food?

Not pictured: TACOS!

What is one thing you have been learning this year?

Do you like to cook/bake?

😬

What is one Bible verse that has really impacted your life/(one of) your favorite verses?

What is one thing you admire about your siblings?

Their love for the Lord!

Sour cream chips or sour cream AND chips?

What kind of cancer did you have?  How did you treat it?  How old were you when you had it?

Originally, my doctors presumed I had pneumonia, since there was fluid in my left lung.  After being treated for pneumonia, I got worse instead of better, so we went back for further consultation with our family doctor, who referred us to a pediatric specialist.  After tests, I was officially diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma.  There was a tumor in my lung.  Since I was within just a few days of death when we discovered it, we didn't have much time to explore treatment options, so I was treated with chemotherapy.  And yes, my hair did fall out.  I was diagnosed on July 31st, almost exactly two months after my sixth birthday, and my treatment lasted for two years.  God was good!

Do you have a computer or phone?  If so, what kind/brand?

* I also have an iPhone 5S, but I use it to take most of my blog photos so I don't have a picture of it.

What does your house (the outside) look like?

What's your favorite Sunday morning outfit?

Do you have any pets/animals?

Not pictured: another cat, and chickens.

What book/which books of the Bible have you memorized?

Which curriculum(s) do you use for school?

I have a lot of siblings in many different grades, and we use quite the variety of resources, including but definitely not limited to Bob Jones (high school) and Horizons math (younger), DIVE science, the Apologia science series, Writing With Sharon Watson resources, Language lessons for the very young, reading lots of good books for history, English, and science; Bible quizzing counts for a lot of our Bible, and I obviously have never had an issue with music education *winks*; also many other books and courses for foreign language, history, and English.  We also try to get in some extra things that count for education, such as attending Shakespeare plays.  Field trips?  Homeschool moms be like, "Field trip to Costco!" :)  lol.  We don't go on many trips due the outrageous costs for a family our size and also all the conflict with our different schedules, but we have been to Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown, as well the Creation Museum.  I haven't seen the Ark Encounter yet, but would love to!

Some extra things that I personally do to enrich my education is read books/articles from Answers in Genesis, read missionary biographies and books about composers, write articles and blog posts (good exercise for English), and go to local plays and concerts.

I've often thought about after my schooling ends... what then?  When my oldest brother graduated, we displayed a sign that said, "I'm graduated; now I'm like all smart and stuff!" :)  Cute, but obviously the end of schooling is not really the end and it doesn't guarantee that you know everything you need or should.  Education is a lifelong endeavor, and everything you do educates you in some way or another.  Never stop learning!  We have access to so many resources in this day and age.  We should value education and always seek to learn more, whether that be through reading good books, going to historical sites and museums, taking an online class, learning a new instrument or skill, or simply googling up something we are curious about.  Never, ever stop learning.

What's your favorite subject?

What's your favorite kind of weather?

70s -- Barefoot weather!

What's your favorite place to be (besides the piano)?

Church.

What's your favorite music book?

What is your favorite hymn?

Who's your all-time favorite musician?

Faye Lopez.  I am so privileged to know her personally.  She is not only a fantastic pianist and composer, but she is a great encouragement and example in her joyfulness and love for others.  She is always ready to give a hug, and I don't know how many times she has told me "I'm praying for you!" when I'm getting ready to play an offertory.  And although she is not my teacher, she has shown me in many ways how to become a better musician.  I wish I had a photo with her to show you!

Do you have a favorite author?

What's a favorite place for you to go with siblings?

*If my parents are not included (we probably wouldn't go a long distance without them), than it would be a local ice cream place. :)

What's a pet peeve of yours?

Doors left open.

From most to least, which form of communication do you prefer?  Text, email, phone call, letter, or in person?

Would you rather go to a party, go on a hike, read a book, or have a one-on-one conversation with a close friend or sibling?

Definitely conversation with a close friend/sibling, although hiking would also be fun... how about both? :)

Coffee, tea, water, hot chocolate, juice, or soda?

Water.

What's your current favorite CD?

I don't actually listen much to CDs on my own accord (I'll use YouTube), so the only time I'll listen to CDs is when I'm in my dad's or one of my brothers' cars.  My favorite from their collections would probably be Time for Truth by the Bontrager Family Singers, or a recording of Jubilate Deo by Dan Forrest.

What group is currently your favorite?

What is your favorite flower?

{ sunflowers }

(I love blossoms!)

What is your favorite hairstyle?

What is your favorite outfit?

Is it cold there?

Thank you all again for submitting your questions and holding me to this challenge!  A challenge it was, most definitely, but a fun challenge!

I'm so thankful for you all, and your support of my blog.  Truly, I wouldn't be doing this without you.  Each comment you've left, each pageview, each time you gave feedback to me personally on how you were touched by a post... that's what keeps me going on this blogging journey.  Has it really been 3 years already?  Lord-willing, I'm looking forward to the next 3 years!

And since I'm about ready to get up and dance in celebration, of course I had to put up a fun YouTube video!  View my own arrangement of the Hamster Dance here. :)

Last but not least, heading into a new year blogging, I'd like to get your feedback!  Is there anything you would like to see more of on this blog?  Less of?  Any posts you specifically look forward to?  Any topics you'd like to see discussed?  Your feedback is important to me!

I'd also love to know... any photographs in this post you were intrigued by?  Did you learn anything new or surprising about me?  Did I make my answers clear with photographs or are there some that need explanations?

Much love in Christ to you all!

Yes, our house is mostly -- if not completely -- powered by solar.
Wow, let's see... I honestly can't remember when we first got chickens. It's been so long! I was 5 when we moved into our current house, so I reckon we must've gotten them shortly after.
My favorite lettering pens are my Japanese (??) Tombow pens. They're awesome!

    1. Oh, it's a violin.... sorry about the confusion xD It's my brother's violin. And I would never just leave my viola out sitting where anyone could photograph (or touch it) it without permission... *glances at brother* ;)
I've said this before, but you really need to try lettering one of these days. ;)

    1. Thanks! Oh yes, Mrs. Lopez writes gorgeous music. I wish you could meet her in person. She is one of the sweetest ladies I know. Always ready to give a hug or say a prayer. I get to play next to her a lot on the second piano and fill in for her occasionally on first piano, and every time I marvel at how honored I am to be filling her shoes in those situations. I mean, seriously, I'm filling in for (or playing next to) FAYE LOPEZ!??! I never can really believe it! In December I did a duet with her to accompany the choir and it was almost surreal! I wish I had a video!
I'm just curious... if I had included a photo with Mrs. Lopez instead of listing her name, would you have recognized her? :) I was literally thinking, "Hmm, I bet Alyssa will know who she is!" xD

    2. Oh, oh, oh!!!! I am so glad you realize how amazing that is, haha! How utterly fantastic!! I want to be SO envious!!! I'm sure she is, and I would LOVE to meet her! I think I would! Haha! I've only seen a few pictures and some video, so...Lol. That is hilarious ;) You must live in SC?
